WhatsApp Status sits right where your customers already check in every day. A WhatsApp Status Ad shows up naturally inside that Status feed, and one tap takes the viewer straight into a WhatsApp chat with your business. No landing page, no extra steps in between.
With AiSensy, you can create, launch and track WhatsApp Status Ads without ever opening Meta Ads Manager separately. Everything, from picking your objective to reading the results, happens right inside the AiSensy Ads Manager.
This guide walks you through setting up your first WhatsApp Status Ad in AiSensy, step by step.
Requirements to run WhatsApp Status Ads
Before you start, make sure you have:
A Facebook Page you want to run the ad from
Admin access to the Facebook Business Manager connected to that page
An Admin role on your AiSensy account, needed to buy ad credits
Enough Ad Credit in your AiSensy account to fund the campaign
How to run WhatsApp Status Ads in AiSensy
1. Connect your Facebook account
In AiSensy, go to Ads Manager and open Setup. Click "Continue with Facebook" and log in with the Facebook account that has admin access to your Business Manager. Approve all the permissions Meta asks for, since skipping any of them can cause issues later while creating ads or viewing analytics.
After connecting the ads manager with AiSensy, you instantly get 1000 FREE ad credits to run meta ads.
2. Choose your ad type and objective
On the Ads Manager dashboard, click "Launch WhatsApp Status Ad" (or use "+ Create Ad" and pick WhatsApp Status Ad as the type). Select your Ad Objective, Engagement works well if you want more chats started, and choose a Performance Goal such as "Maximise number of conversations."
AiSensy shows a live preview of how your ad will look in the Status feed, along with the estimated monthly reach for your account.
3. Set your target audience & campaign objective
Next, choose the right campaign objective, performance goal, Pixel, and conversion event to optimize your WhatsApp Status Ad for better results.
Define who should see your ad. You can use a saved audience or build a custom or lookalike audience from scratch. Add the locations you want to target, and set the gender and age group for your audience.
4. Set your budget and duration
Choose your daily budget and pick a start date for the campaign. You can leave the end date open if you want the ad to keep running, or set one if you're planning a fixed campaign window.
Note: Ad scheduling (running your ad only on specific days or hours) is only available if you switch to a lifetime budget instead of a daily one.
5. Add your ad creative
Give your ad a name (for your own reference), then fill in the Primary Text and Headline that will appear with your ad. Upload an image or video for the ad from AiSensy's Media Library, or add a Media URL directly.
Don't have an ad creative? Generate one easily with AiSensy's Ad Creative generator.
6. Set up Icebreakers (optional)
Icebreakers are quick-reply buttons that appear the moment someone starts a chat from your ad, they make it easier for the customer to tell you what they want without typing it out.
Turn this on if you'd like, add a Greeting message (this is required if you enable Icebreakers), and add one or more Icebreaker options. Each Icebreaker can be linked to a Chatbot Flow, so the customer's reply can trigger an automated next step. AiSensy shows a live WhatsApp preview on the right so you can see exactly how the chat will look before you save.
7. Publish and track your ad
Once everything looks good, publish your ad. It will go through Meta's standard review process before it goes live, this usually takes some time, so don't worry if it doesn't show as active right away.
You can track everything from the Ads Manager dashboard: number of leads, click-through rate, cost per lead, total spend and CAPI signals are all visible at a glance, so you don't have to leave AiSensy to check how your campaign is performing.
Things to Keep in Mind
You can also run Instagram story ads along with WhatsApp Status ads
Ad scheduling only works with a lifetime budget, not a daily one
Analytics may take a few minutes to update and are synced from Meta, so small delays are normal
The AI Creative Generator uses Ad Credits, keep this in mind while budgeting
If your ad gets rejected, check the rejection reason in Ads Manager or reach out to AiSensy support
That's it! You're all set to start running WhatsApp Status Ads on AiSensy and turn Status views into real WhatsApp conversations.
