If you're using Xtreme Gen AI to power your Voice AI Agents, you can now connect them with AiSensy to send approved WhatsApp templates and continue customer conversations on WhatsApp.
In this doc, we'll show you how to connect Xtreme Gen AI with AiSensy and set up WhatsApp messaging in just a few simple steps.
What’s this integration all about?
With this integration:
You can connect your Xtreme Gen AI Voice AI Agent with AiSensy.
You can use your Meta-approved WhatsApp templates in Xtreme Gen AI.
You can trigger WhatsApp messages from your Xtreme Gen AI workflows.
You can continue the conversation on WhatsApp after a customer responds to your message.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure:
You have an active Xtreme Gen AI account.
You have a Voice AI Agent set up in Xtreme Gen AI.
You have an active AiSensy project.
You have your AiSensy Project ID.
You have your xKey (API Password).
You have at least one Meta-approved WhatsApp template available in your AiSensy project.
Need to set up your WhatsApp number first? Follow our WhatsApp Business API setup guide
⚠️ Keep your xKey safe and confidential. Don't share it in emails, screenshots, public documents, or chat groups.
How the setup works
Create a template → Make an API campaign live → Connect your AiSensy project → Add your WhatsApp Prompt → Configure your workflow → Test the messages and replies.
Note: Screenshots show example businesses, templates, and campaigns. Use your own details. The sample names in the screenshots do not need to match the example used in this guide.
How to integrate Xtreme Gen AI with AiSensy?
Step 1: Create a WhatsApp template in AiSensy
A WhatsApp template is the message you want to send to your customer. It needs to be approved by Meta before you can use it in this automation.
Already have an approved template for this use case? You can use it and move to Step 2.
Open the template section
Log in to your AiSensy Dashboard and open the project you want to connect.
Go to Manage → Template Message.
Click + New to create a template.
In AiSensy, open Template Message and click + New. View help article
Add your template details
Template Name: Use a name such as xtreme_call_followup. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores; avoid spaces.
Category: Choose the category that matches the message. Marketing is for promotional content, Utility is for specific transaction updates, and Authentication is for login or verification codes.
Language: Select the language your customers will receive.
Template Type: For the example below, select TEXT.
Template Format: Enter the message you want to send.
Enter your message in Template Format and check the preview. This screenshot shows a different sample message. View help article
Add the message and its variables
For reference, you can use a call follow-up message like this:
Hi {{1}}, thank you for speaking with us. Here are the details we discussed: {{2}}. Reply to this message if you need any help.
The placeholders {{1}} and {{2}} are called variables or parameters. They are replaced with the correct information for each customer when the message is sent.
Variable | What it means | Example sample value |
{{1}} | Customer name | Rahul |
{{2}} | Link to the details discussed |
Add these example values under Sample Values so Meta can review a complete message. Replace the example link with a real link from your business before submitting.
Important: Sample values are for template review. Later, you must connect each variable to the correct customer or workflow value in Xtreme Gen AI. Adding “Rahul” as a sample does not personalise every customer message automatically.
For this simple example, choose None under Interactive Actions. If your use case needs buttons or media, configure those in your template and confirm that your Xtreme Gen AI workflow can supply the required values.
Submit the template and check approval
Review the message and sample values, then click Submit.
Return to the template list and click Sync Status to fetch the latest approval status.
Open the Approved tab and check that your template is approved before continuing.
Use Sync Status and check the Approved tab before creating your campaign. View help article
If the template is still pending, wait for Meta to review it. If it is rejected, review the reason, update the template, and resubmit it.
For the full walkthrough, read our WhatsApp template creation guide
Step 2: Create an API campaign in AiSensy
Now that your template is approved, create an API Campaign. This connects a campaign name to your template so Xtreme Gen AI can ask AiSensy to send that message whenever your workflow is triggered.
Choose API Campaign
In the same AiSensy project, open Campaigns.
Click + Launch.
Under API Campaign, click Next.
Open Campaigns and click + Launch. View help article
Choose API Campaign for automated messages from Xtreme Gen AI. View help article
Name your campaign and set it live
Enter a Campaign Name, for example, Xtreme Call Followup.
Select the approved template you created in Step 1, for example, xtreme_call_followup.
Review the template preview and click Set Live.
Open the campaign and confirm that its status is Live.
Add a campaign name, select your approved template, and click Set Live. The names shown here are examples. View help article
Remember: The template name and campaign name are different. In this example, the template is xtreme_call_followup, while the campaign is Xtreme Call Followup. You will select the campaign in your Xtreme Gen AI workflow later.
Setting the campaign live makes it available for automation. Your workflow still needs to trigger it for a message to be sent.

Step 3: Get your AiSensy Project ID and xKey
Xtreme Gen AI needs two details to connect to the correct AiSensy project: your Project ID and your Project API Key.
Copy your Project API Key
In your AiSensy project, open Developer from the left menu.
Select the Project API Keys tab.
Use a valid key for this project. If you need a new one, click + Generate Key, complete the on-screen details, and copy the generated value.
Keep this value ready. You will paste it into xKey (API Password) in Xtreme Gen AI.
Developer → Project API Keys. Use the key from this tab for the xKey field.
Important: Use Project API Keys for this connection. The separate API Campaign Key tab is not the credential requested in Xtreme Gen AI’s xKey field.
Keep your Project ID ready
Use the Project ID of the same AiSensy project where you created the template and campaign. If you do not already have it, contact AiSensy support through Live Chat and ask for your Project ID for the Xtreme Gen AI integration.
For context, this is your project id that you can simply copy yourself.
Keep your xKey private. Paste it only into the integration form. Do not include it in screenshots or public documents. These are project credentials; do not enter your AiSensy login password here.
Step 4: Connect your Voice AI Agent with AiSensy
Once your template, campaign, and credentials are ready, let's connect them in Xtreme Gen AI.
Open WhatsApp Automation
Log in to Xtreme Gen AI.
Click AiSensy in the left menu to open WhatsApp Automation.
Select the Business you want to connect.
Click Integrate AiSensy to open the New Integration form.
Select your business, then click Integrate AiSensy.
Select the agent and fetch your template
Choose the Voice AI Agent that will handle this WhatsApp use case.
Paste your AiSensy Project ID.
Paste the Project API Key from Step 3 into xKey (API Password).
Click Fetch Templates.
From Template Name, select the approved template used in your API campaign. For our example, select xtreme_call_followup.
Select the voice agent, enter the credentials, and click Fetch Templates. Credential values are hidden.
Note: Only approved templates from the connected project are listed. If your template is missing, check its approval status in AiSensy, then click Fetch Templates again.
Step 5: Add your WhatsApp Prompt
The WhatsApp Prompt tells the AI Agent how to respond after a customer replies. Your template controls the first message; your prompt guides the conversation that follows.
Use WhatsApp Prompt to define the agent’s role, scope, and response style. The screenshot contains a sample admissions prompt.
In this field, explain:
Who the AI represents: Your business and the role it should play.
What it can help with: The questions it should answer and the information it can use.
How it should respond: The language, tone, and next question to ask.
When your team should step in: For example, when the customer asks for a person or the AI does not have the answer.
Example WhatsApp Prompt
You can adapt this example for your business:
You are the WhatsApp assistant for [Business Name]. Help customers with questions about [your product or service].
Use only the business information and links provided to you. If a previous call summary or customer details are available, use them to continue the conversation without asking the customer to repeat information.
Keep replies short, friendly, and easy to understand. Ask one question at a time. Respond in the customer’s preferred language when possible.
If the customer asks for a person, or you do not have the information needed to answer, let them know that the team will help and follow the configured human handover process. Do not invent prices, policies, or promises.
Before saving: Replace the bracketed details with your own business information. Make sure any call context mentioned in the prompt is actually available to the agent.
Important: Writing a handover instruction in the prompt does not set up the handover process by itself. Make sure your team can take over the conversation, and test this in Step 8.
Step 6: Enable and save the integration
Find the Status toggle in the integration form.
Switch it on so it reads Integration is Enabled.
Click Save Integration for a new connection. If you are editing an existing connection, click Update, as shown below.
This example shows the toggle switched off. Switch it on before clicking Update.
Your AiSensy project is now connected to the selected agent. Next, connect the live campaign to the workflow that should send the message.
Step 7: Select your API campaign in the Xtreme Gen AI workflow
A workflow trigger is the event that should send the WhatsApp message. Choose the event that matches your use case, such as a follow-up when a customer requests more information.
Open the Xtreme Gen AI workflow you want to use with this agent.
Open its WhatsApp (AiSensy) step.
Refresh the campaign list so it includes the live API campaign you created.
Select Xtreme Call Followup, or your own campaign name.
Check that the campaign uses the same approved template selected in the integration.
If the campaign does not appear, confirm that it is Live in AiSensy and belongs to the project connected in Step 4. Then refresh the list again.
Connect the recipient and template variables
Now tell the workflow which customer should receive the message and which values should fill the template. This is called mapping.
Value to configure | What to select or enter |
Recipient WhatsApp number | The customer’s WhatsApp number, including the country code. |
Template variable {{1}} | The customer name from your workflow or contact details. |
Template variable {{2}} | The correct details link for this customer or use case. |
For the sample template, Rahul should receive:
Hi Rahul, thank you for speaking with us. Here are the details we discussed: https://example.com/course-details. Reply to this message if you need any help.
Important: Keep the variable order the same as your approved template. Our example has 2 variables, so supply exactly 2 values: name first, link second. Use the actual customer values and your real business link.
Save the WhatsApp step and your workflow changes. Make sure the workflow is enabled before running the test.
Step 8: Test your complete integration
Before using the workflow with customers, run it with your own or a teammate’s WhatsApp number.
Test message delivery
Use the internal number as the recipient and provide test values for every template variable.
Trigger the event configured in your Xtreme Gen AI workflow.
Check that the expected WhatsApp message arrives with the correct name and link.
In AiSensy, open the API campaign and check Sent, Delivered, or Failed for the test contact. A message appearing under Sent alone does not confirm delivery.
The campaign page shows status and delivery tabs. Check the result for your test recipient. View help article
Facing an issue with the setup
My template is not showing in Xtreme Gen AI
Confirm that it is approved in AiSensy. Check the Project ID and xKey, make sure they belong to the same project as the template, and click Fetch Templates again.
My API campaign is not showing
Confirm that you created an API Campaign, that its status is Live, and that it uses the intended template. Refresh the campaign list in the Xtreme Gen AI workflow.
The message has the wrong name or link
Review the values mapped to {{1}}, {{2}}, and any other variables. Make sure none are missing or in the wrong order. Check that the recipient field uses the customer’s WhatsApp number.
The message arrives but the AI does not reply
Confirm that the integration is enabled and saved for the correct Voice AI Agent. Review the WhatsApp Prompt and the reply flow, then test again. For Xtreme workflow or agent issues, contact the Xtreme Gen AI team.
The message is not delivered
Check the campaign’s Failed tab for the error. Confirm that the recipient number includes the country code, the template is approved, and the campaign is live. For AiSensy credentials, template, or delivery issues, contact us through Live Chat or email [email protected].
